UK’s sports equity fund Global Soccer Ventures (GSV) in Pakistan saw the tender notice draw to an overwhelming response on deadline day, 10th September, 2021 in Pakistan.
GSV received an encouraging response for all 6 franchise clubs at the pre-auction bidding stage, not only from within Pakistan but also internationally from Europe, USA and UAE. This has resulted in three (03) franchise clubs, namely Karachi, Peshawar and Islamabad, awarded to the highest bidders. However, the three (03) remaining franchises will now be awarded to the highest bidder from open market. The bidder having made bids prior to the closing have secured a preferential rate advantage, and is now a matter of strategically aligning them with Europe’s elite football clubs to create the technical football partnership.
Zabe Khan, CEO of GSV said, “It was a huge surprise to witness so many submissions from groups vying to take a slice of The PFL. This clearly demonstrates the demand for the right product, and if one has created a commercially sustainable football enterprise, people will see business value in it”.
GSV will soon formally unveil the proud owners who will dominate football in their cities with Pakistan’s first-ever franchise football league – The PFL. The league is already being hailed as a much bigger sports brand than cricket’s PSL with top European clubs and international stars already enlisted. – #FootballHoga.
